Valley School hosts a White Elephant Sale and cafeteria dinner to benefit the American Red Cross Summit Valley Branch on Saturday March 23 1918 ten miles north of Epping. Bring usable white elephants or other salable items wrapped and delivered to the tent for bidding. Enjoy a social event with food and entertainment as part of the fundraising effort.

United States deputy marshal C D Scott arrived here Friday night with a bench warrant for G M Full ness wanted by the department of justice on a charge of importing liquor into dry territory in violation of the United States bone dry law. He had 8 quarts 60 pints 4 half pints of whiskey and 1 pint of alcohol when captured. He was taken to Fargo on No 2 Saturday afternoon after the train entered Williston where the sheriff had arrested him. Mrs P C Hamre visited Minot last week.

A nation wide week of March 18 to 25 promotes collecting unused books for soldiers and sailors libraries. Citizens are urged to pass on beloved but unread books to khaki clad men, or donate novels and tales. millions remain unutilized in American homes and need a boost to meet demand.
Book campaign invites new titles for library sales
The notice requests bringing or arranging delivery of a wide range of books including detective stories, up to date civil mechanical and electrical engineering volumes, trades, business, biographies, poetry and foreign language works. Readers are urged to give a book during the designated week and collection arrangements will be made where bringing the books is not possible.
Association Men Wanted In France War Work Posts War Council names committee to select Y M C A workers
A North Dakota Y M C A personnel committee was formed at a Fargo conference to recruit and screen applicants for Y M C A war service posts in the state. Members include T B Elton Grand Forks and others from Fargo Dickinson Bismarck Jamestown and more. Eleven hundred men per month will be needed for overseas work with the state divided into ten districts for recruitment.
