Jones turns on Sheridan in Alaska coal inquiry
Washington February 26 Special Agent Horace T Jones of the land office testified for the prosecution and assailed James M Sheridan sent to Seattle to lead the government case in the Cunningham coal claims in Alaska asserting Sheridan’s competence and accusing Glavis of greater legal knowledge. The confrontation grew as Jones defended Glavis and asserted he would not be swayed by committee inferences. The hearing delayed Pinchot’s anticipated appearance as Bisrk and Steele statements were considered for evidence though not sworn.
