Quilt ing bee and town notes in Marion

Mrs Albert McIntosh hosted a quilting bee on Friday June 3rd with a dainty luncheon after tying comforts. Mrs E M Longworth from Minneapolis visited en route to the coast. Ball players gather June 12 at the Mormon post office to form a team. John McKinney, once of Marion, visited last week. Sunday school meets at Twin Lake schoolhouse with John Silker as teacher. R E Dillree and wife attended the Albert McIntosh home Sunday. John Newman lost his pet mule Tony. Ads Smith had a visitor Sunday evening.

Pleasant Hill Social Notes and Local Moves

Mrs Albert Rostvold attended the Ladies Aid Friday at Mrs Tuffies. Louis Dahl brought home fence posts from Epping. Ole Brandrud works for Charles Erickson of Springbrook and spent Sunday on his claim. Albert Rostvold went to Williston on business. Crest Lee breaks for his brother Anton this week and will try oats. Karl Karlson and Mr Holmbeck visited Crest Anderson on their way from Springbrook. The Dahl Brothers of Williston begin building a new blacksmith shop at Springbrook. Mr and Mrs Floyd Trumbo entertained Miss Cora Dyson of New Richmond Wis Sunday. Attendees included Rostvold, Anton Lee and family, Annie Lee and Louis Dahl. Ben Brekke and family visited A Standale and sister north of Springbrook.

Doris Francis returned from Devils Lake for a family vacation with her parents. Don Rutledge and wife hosted a party for Charles and Edward Webb visiting relatives. Alfred Elliott suffered a runaway injury with a wagon wheel. he recovered enough to move about. Lily and Kate Bear hosted a birthday dinner for Mrs Jamison and Maybelle. School repairs proceed and a literary program is set for June 11 at 9 p.m. Isaac Francis visited W C Francis then returned to Onatonna Minnesota after a Minot family reunion.

The Danish community hosted a Sunday picnic with large attendance. Julius Thompson and his companion were present. Mrs. J. Cook departed last week to visit friends and relatives in southern Minnesota.

Snow fell Wednesday night and Thursday as residents report a cheerful week. Miss Drake of Wisconsin visits her grandmother Mrs. Cowen while Mr. Addyman and several locals pass through town. The Fine family with Edna and others call on Mrs. Hy shee. ice cream and cake mark a pleasant gathering. Mrs. Haviland travels to Williston, and wheat crops look promising in the community.

Rail plans include Great Northern Stanley branch near Cottonwood Lake and land purchases near Carlson Lake. A Soo passenger train between Ambrose and Minot is rumored. Noonan couple welcomed home after honeymoon with dance and supper. Deputies raided a “red light” house west of town, confiscating liquor and detaining five patrons before release.
