Rural Williams County tale ties farming and fun
Walter Mitchell and George Priddy visited Williston last Saturday while Mr and Mrs J A Cunningham of Williston spent Friday nearby. Sunday School and preaching are planned next Sunday with an open invitation. The community notes hail seeding progress, oats sown late, and a Marmon versus Epping ball game ending 15 to e in Marmon's favor. Mosquito plagues, haying, and the coming harvest fill the period as locals share visits, family events, and marriage news including Casper Suite and Miss Skinrud on July 6, Casper bringing his bride home on the 15th. Families attend parties, plantings, and sales, with farm work, fishing, and local gatherings shaping daily life.

Hot Weather Is Behind A Surge Of Drownings In State
Over the past week several drowning incidents occurred as extreme heat drives people to water. At Buffalo Lodge Lake near Granville, 22 year olds Harry Fast and Miss Freda Schleking perished when their canoe capsized. Seven year old Verbal Kersey drowned in a Glasgow coulee after wading beyond depth. Forrest Crutchfield and Jennings Webb died when a river rescue attempt capsized their boat after locating Webb’s body. Authorities warn extreme heat raises drowning risk due to cramps and sudden cold water immersion. A body was found in Milk River at Saco after workers spotted it in a net. Crosby-Nelson Lodahl’s auto overturned on a railroad crossing, but no serious injuries.
