Draft of the National Army Draft in Washington
Regulations for the national army draft awaiting President Wilson's approval set procedures for numbering, centralized drawing in Washington, and exemption appeals. About 1.5 to 2.5 million names may be drawn from 10 million registrants to produce 600,000 to 700,000 soldiers, with fitness judged by education, health, and vision standards and local exemption boards handling eliminations.

Wolf Point wedding shows the spirit of West romance
In Wolf Point the Reding home on West Boundary street hosted a June 21 ceremony for Miss Hattie Elnor Tuman and Clyde A. Potvin, led by Judge Charles Gordon with Erma Small as pianist. The couple plan a Sand Creek farm home and an eastern trip in July. Miss Tuman, 20, raised six siblings after her father died in 1918 while moving to Montana. She homesteaded 320 acres near Sand Creek, built a cottage, barn, and improved crops, crediting neighbors and perseverance for success. The tale echoes a young woman’s pluck turning hardship into a thriving future. A Telemarking gathering at Williston’s courthouse July 22 is announced as a Chau tchauqua feature, inviting descendants to convene and organize. For more info, write O A Houge, Williston.
