Williston Fourth of July Crowds Celebrate Without Accident

Williston drew the largest Fourth of July crowd in history with a daylong celebration. Parade and flag raising at the depot highlighted the event, followed by auto races won by Bob Bruegger and Jennison in Ford and Overland cars. Two minor accidents occurred but no injuries. fireworks concluded a festive, well managed day with heavy local and visiting participation.

Williston Chautauqua Program Set For Weeklong Events

The Wiliston Chautauqua opens in late July with W Edward Dudley as superintendent and Ruth Paine supervising children. Daily events include concerts by The Marylands Hawaiians and Cathedral Choir, lectures by Judge Schoonover and Clarence Locke Miller, and a final Sunday service and pageant rehearsals. Admission ranges from 5 to 50 cents across activities, with special family and children's programs noted.

A large Williston crowd enjoyed a patriotic Fourth of July display headlined by a Statue of Liberty tribute. The aerial show impressed spectators, and despite conditions limiting attendance, the event delivered a lively, well received celebration for visitors.

Arnegard Delegation Tops Williston Parade Honors

C N Stenehjem leader of the Arnegard band visited the Graphic office to thank Williston for courtesy during the celebration. Arnegard’s cool crowd won best out of town delegation in the parade and its baseball team also captured a purse Tuesday night.

Child Watches Doctors Amputate Four Digits Without Anesthetic

An eight year old girl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Shelley, underwent finger and toe removals Wednesday. Doctors Jones, Perkins, and Morris performed the operations in the latter’s Watford City office without anesthetic. The child, born with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, watched calmly as the procedures were carried out.

Former Resident Thorpe Dies By Own Action in Fairview

Fairview Tribune reports C. E. Thorpe, formerly of Williston, found dead in his studio with a deep throat wound. Sheriff and coroner's jury in Sidney rule death self-inflicted, noting possible depression over divorce and finances. Thorpe, English-born, had sister in Spokane and a brother in the British army. Funeral by Workman's Lodge, interment in Sidney.

Wildrose Split Two Game Series With Williston

Wildrose and Williston played a pair of baseball games at Wildrose over the weekend, each winning one. Tioga Red Cross Auxiliary Organized and Growing

The Tioga auxiliary of the National Red Cross formed with local residents and with help from Williston chapter leaders. Officers were elected, including Mrs. E. Bylin as chairwoman and Mrs. H. F. Easton as secretary, with 30 to 40 members joining as meetings are set for Wednesdays at 2 20 p m in the Gordon hotel.

New Ferry Boat Planned for Eight Teams at Sanish

Capt._fd_Seneechal reports preparation underway in Williston yard for a new ferry boat to serve the lower river. Construction will take about forty days once materials arrive and will embody the captain’s idea of the best ferries. The vessel will feature modern machinery and be capable of carrying eight teams.
