Farmers Drown When Machine Goes Off Boat
Cartwright North Dakota July 12 A searching party tonight dragged the Missouri river near Cartwright for the body of Oscar Steenson 22 a farmer living near Cartwright who was drowned when the Maxwell automobile he occupied plunged off backward from the Sioux Ferry into the river on Tuesday night Steenson attempted to drive his car off the ferry but reversed and the car went into the water with two other unnamed occupants who were rescued The body was not recovered and the car lay at the river bottom about 30 feet deep as the search continued all three automobiles were on the boat when the accident happened the drowning man was unmarried and returning from a trip into Montana
