Pittsburg Walks Strike Closes Most Street Cars on Sunday
On June 28 Pittsburgh faced a broad strike with only one street car operating carrying U S mail. Intermittent storms and heat kept travel light as outer Allegheny residents used trains. Union leaders held talks at union headquarters while police monitored clashes between strikers and would be breakers. A separate event in Dayton saw the unveiling of a memorial tablet to Paul Laurence Dunbar by Rev. Scarborough and Rev. Clarke.
