Washington Southern Telephone organizes merger network

Spokane reports the Washington Southern Telephone Company formed with $100 000 capital to merge Montana Independent Home and Interstate lines with through connections to Minneapolis and Salt Lake City. End of switchmen strike in sight as talks near closure

In St Paul on December 27 Governor Eberhart presides over a final conference expected to end the switchmen strike tonight. A settlement likely grants reemployment to striking workers on a compromise basis while allowing railroads to meet existing contracts. If successful, previously unemployed switchmen will return to yards and industry will resume normal operations. President Hawley could call off the strike immediately after a settlement.
