Governor weighs arbitrate option on Twin Cities freight

In St Paul on December 17 Governor Eberhart awaited a striker report on freight conditions in Minneapolis and St Paul. He heard findings from the railroad and warehouse commission and the state labor bureau to base action. Railroad officials say they do not seek arbitration and can move freight without the strikers.

School Closed for Holidays in North Dakota District

The article reports a two week holiday starting on the 17th with teachers and pupils at rest. Great Success as Nelson Farmer Carl J Johnson

Carl J Johnson of Nelson was in Williston this week. A self made farmer who arrived ten years ago with little, he claimed a Neason Valley parcel, worked summers and winters for others, then bought adjoining land and this year harvested 4500 bushels of wheat. He closed a deal for another quarter section and now owns a leading northwest farm.

Judge Goss to Sentence Convicted Parties Friday Morning

Judge Goss will pass sentence on all convicted parties tomorrow morning at ten o'clock. Several awaiting sentence include the men convicted of horse stealing. The court has cleared many civil cases this week and aims to wind up the term. if not finished, hearings will resume next week for remaining matters.

The body of Mrs. Horace D Taft of Watertown Connecticut died at Johns Hopkins Hospital and was taken to New York by her husband a Taft brother of the president. President Taft will attend the funeral in Watertown tomorrow and plans to return to Washington soon canceling engagements.
