Death of Great Northern worker crushed by engine in Devils Lake
David Gallagher night coach cleaner for Great Northern railway was killed when dragged under a moving engine near coal shutes in Devils Lake North Dakota on Christmas morning. His body was found by Engineer Williams about seven and the death is believed accidental. Gallagher from Dundas Minnesota leaves a wife and five children. Burial planned in Dundas with his wife and daughter traveling.

Passenger Hero: 12 Year Old Stops Damaging Train
In Olympia Washington on December 24 Harry Hunter and Sam Burrows both 12 warn of a broken rail near the tracks east of Olympia. Hunter signaled a Northern Pacific passenger train with a handkerchief and stopped it within five feet of the break saving passengers and crew who then hailed the boys as heroes.
