Great Strike in Canada as Mechanics Quit Work

Winnipeg August 6 Trade unionism in Canada defies the Canadian Pacific railway. Mechanics and related workers quit Wednesday causing idle shops across the system. About 13000 men left work including 2200 in Montreal and 1500 in Winnipeg. Two thousand workers walked off from Fort William to Vancouver by executive mandate. Even pensioned veterans returned home, marking a historic shutdown of Canadian workshops.
