Plea and sentence in North Dakota murder case
Bottineau Aug 1 Little Rising Sun pleaded guilty to first degree murder in the slaying of 16 year old Alexandra Slede. He said Joe Peltier ordered the killing while Charley Peltier held her, a shotgun blast killed her brains out. They dragged the body, burned the bed, and fled. Rising Sun age 16 drew life sentence. the Peltiers were to be hanged February 9 at the state pen in Bismarck.

Porter Home Burned Near Here
Last Monday morning the Porter residence west of here burned to the ground. Mrs. Porter was badly burned around the neck and shoulders but escaped cremation. She had left a hot stove burning when she went for water and returned to find the wall ablaze. Her wet clothing prevented ignition. She walked about a mile and a half to Zahl Yanch for treatment, where she has been cared for and is now improving.

Four Negroes Hanged by Mob Near Russellville Ky
Four black men Virigal Tom and Robert Jones and Joe Ripley were dragged from the jail and hanged from a tree near Nashville Pike in Russellville. A note warned other negroes to stay away, while the mob, about fifty men, spared no shots. The lynching followed a prior murder of white farmer James Cunningham by his black tenant Rufus Browder.

Envy Blamed In Fatal Farmhouse Shooting Near LaMoure
Albert Malm a farmer five miles east of LaMoure sustained a bullet wound to the head from a 32 caliber revolver fired by Andrew Lundquist who fled before being arrested. Lundquist held on $10,000 bail as Malm remained in critical condition at St Luke's hospital in Fargo after the Monday morning shooting. Both men are described as foreigners and reticence surrounds the incident.

Installed Lodge at Ray Odd Fellows Charter Members
An Odd Fellows lodge was instituted at Ray last Saturday with twenty members joined, nine on the charter. First Assistant District Deputy George Wilson oversaw part of the ceremony, assisted by A H Brown, Mr Glissman, Jeansfield, and H R Evans. House Burns at Higley Last Friday
The residence of Wilmer Eckart of Higley burned last week while the occupants were in the barn. They had left an oil stove burning and could not save any belongings. Eckart reportedly lost eighty dollars in cash from his coat pocket.
