Williston Plans Market Day Sale On August 22

Williston will stage a regular market day to stimulate local trade. Promoter Mr Gillen has toured the northwest and aims to draw farmers, families, and merchants into a day of auctions and bargains with secondhand goods, cattle, and horses listed for sale. Regional rail fare rates and big prizes from Bruegger Mercantile Co and Asbury Grocery Co will boost attendance and purchases.

N Hayes Wins County Central Chairman Post

The County Central committee met in this city Saturday afternoon and elected officers with N Hayes defeating W S Davidson for chairman. John Esteland of Ambrose was elected secretary and Howard Lampman treasurer. Committees were named including Executive, Reception, and Proceedure. A McKenzie and Williams county meeting was set to elect a national committeeman with many Republican candidates attending a Saturday banquet for about sixty attendees.

North Dakota couple to wed at Petersburg church

Hon and Mrs Martin N Johnson of Petersburg announce the marriage of their daughter Nellie Salinda to Seward M Hydle of Williston. Nellie, a North Dakota University graduate and former Seattle public school teacher, led Devils Lake Chautauqua circles. Whitaker Receives Ten Years In Pen

Jeffer son Whitaker is convicted of second degree murder in Upham North Dakota. Jury verdict delivered at 4 30 this morning after a trial that lasted since Tuesday. Killed by Gas in Digging Well Near Tolley

In Minot on August 11 a well digger, unnamed to Coroner Larson, died after being overcome by gas while descending sixty feet to fix a bucket. His companion, descending with a harness, also succumbed but was rescued. It took about eight hours to recover the first man’s body, who died shortly after the fall.

Mrs Kate Gahan Dead in Iowa Parish From Ireland to Norway Burial

Mrs Kate Gahan mother of John Gahan of this city died Tuesday evening after a long illness. Born in Ireland ninety years ago she came to America as a young woman and spent most of her life in Iowa. She lived in North Dakota with her son the last five years. Funeral at St Joseph church yesterday at four Father Arsenault officiating. Remains to be laid beside her husband in Norway Iowa. Son and granddaughter Miss Jennie Gahan attended. She was a devout Christian.
