Whitewright seventh grade defeated Whitesboro 28 6 after a slow start by the defense allowed 28 Whitesboro points. Willie Ballard 95 yard sweep for a TD and Eddie Orr and Ricky Rice added PATs. Whitesboro added a late 49 yard TD as the game closed.
Lance Corporal Mickey Griffis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Griffis of Whitewright, is serving a tour of duty in Hawaii. He expects his wife to join him soon in Sherman. The Griffis couple greet their son born October 15 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Michael Joe weighed eight pounds eleven ounces.
Sunday guests included Mr. and Mrs. J W Burchfield, Mr. and Mrs Lewis Sheridan of Paris, Mr. and Mrs George Christopher of Howe, and Mr. and Mrs Sonny Smith of Whitewright visiting Mr. and Mrs Byrd Burchfield. Maurine Albaugh of Harding College spent the weekend with her grandmother Mrs Fred Garner and her aunt Mrs Don Collins.
Rosalie Geers and Rev Howard McSpedden led Sunday services with special singing by Brenda Thornhill and Kay Geers. Forty residents attended. A film titled Missionary to Walkers Garage was shown Friday afternoon, loaned by First Baptist Church. New patients included Sam Golden and William McKelva. Sympathy to family of Ocie Allison who died October 14 after nursing home care since March 1963. Various visitors, bingo winners named.
Funeral services were held for Mrs James Birch Allison 85 who died Thursday in Whitewright Nursing Home She was born in 1886 in Kentucky married B Allison in 1916 and survived by a daughter two grandchildren and a great grandchild Also services were held for Rev Calvin Simpson 71 former Baptist minister who died after a long illness Survivors include wife two sons three daughters and nine grandchildren Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery Bells and Pilot Grove Cemetery Waxahachie and Bells area churches were noted.
Whitewright Rotary leads a community fundraiser for Geneva Powell of Sadler, hospitalized in Galveston after kidney failure and organ removal. Husband Eddie, a Vietnam veteran, quit work to support treatment. donations pour in via local containers and two area banks as they await federal aid and home dialysis classes.
