Reorganized district creates new UIL competition alignment
Whitewright High School enrollment rose from 151 to 170 per UIL head count but remains in lower tier. Superintendent Sam Montgomery says district shifts will place Whitewright in 15-A with Bells Howe Leonard Van Alstyne and likely Pottsboro, while nearby schools move to 1-A or 2-A. A Wednesday meeting planned to finalize district scheduling and non district foes include Farmersville Cooper Allen Carroll. Whitewright to Hawk the Tigers beat Honey Grove 7-0 to stay unbeaten in 14-A. Marvin Atterberry scored on the first play of the second quarter and Mike Spann added the extra point. Whitewright defense forced Honey Grove miscues and grabbed two interceptions. Next up is Fannindel at Ladonia, with remaining road games in enemy territory.

The Whitewright PTA Fourth Annual Pre Halloween Carnival drew over 1,000 attendees producing 1246.41 in revenue after expenses and 242.79 in commissions to grades K through 12. Winners included Trent Thornton most Halloween, Amy Francis runner up, and Mike Fortner most original with Kristi Thorton a close second. judges named several local figures.

UNICEF Halloween Drive Turns Labels Into Aid
UNICEF youth collect redeemable labels and cash during Halloween to fund vaccines and supplies for children. Local coordinators Mrs. Betty Burleson Miss Annette Snider and Rev. Miss Whitewright Pageant judges named and district holiday
Selection of three judges for the Miss Whitewright Pageant announced this week. Judges include Herman Ringler of Denison Betty Frailey of Dallas and Joan Perry of Sherman. Pageant coordinator is Linda Sullivan. Ringler is a UT 1962 graduate and Denison civic leader. Fraley works with Glamour Girls Modeling Agency in Dallas and has judged many pageants. Perry owns the Gazebo in Sherman and participates in local business groups.
