Whitewright Homecoming Festivities Honor Ex Tigers at Tiger Stadium
Whitewright High School welcomes ex Tigers for a homecoming event at Tiger Stadium this Friday. A 7 p.m. football sweetheart crowning precedes a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Candidates include Jane Biggerstaff and Brenda Bing among drill team members, majorettes, and cheerleaders with escorts. A postgame Blue Grass dance for students and dates follows. tickets are $1.25 in advance or $1.50 at the door.

Whitewright Tigers Dominant Win Over Rivercrest Pushes Record
Whitewright's Tigers improved to 4-1 with a 33-13 win over the Rivercrest Rebels. Despite an early Rebel score by Terry Giddens, Whitewright surged ahead with passing and big runs, including Marvin Arterberry’s 143 rushing yards on 14 carries and two long TD jaunts. The Tigers then host Whitesboro in their next district matchup as homecoming nears.

Whitewright businesses have donated prizes for the Miss Whitewright pageant winner including a $50 bond from First National Bank, Channel No. 5 from Walker's Pharmacy, a sweater coat from the Chamber of Commerce and Cindy's Dress Shop, and a powder box from the Gift Shop. The Little Miss Whitewright Pageant accompanies the event on October 30 at the high school with no entry fee. trophies will be awarded in each age division. Applications are due by October 20 to the pageant committee.

Whitewright Receives 2451 From City Sales Tax
Whitewright will get about 2451 as its share of the one percent city sales tax for the second quarter of 1971. The state comptroller paid 401 million to cities in the quarter, with statewide tax receipts rising 14.3 percent from the previous year. Other area towns receiving revenue included Leonard 2850 Whites Croith 8705 and Frisco 6601.
