The Whitewright Parent Teacher Association hosts a game tournament in the old Truett building tonight at 7:30. Dominoes forty two and bridge are played with prizes for each series, 25 cent admission. Proceeds fund school equipment like a radio phonograph and moving picture machine. all are invited to attend and support a good cause.

The U S Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld Associate Justice Hugo Black's ruling that Lyndon B Johnson can appear on the Texas Democratic Senate ballot. The Whitewright Tigers travel to Bells Friday to face Bells High School in the second conference game. They beat Tioga 37 to 7 last week at Bryant Field and have won two of three games while losing to Honey Grove by one point. The kickoff is at 8 p.m. and a large Tiger fan turnout is expected.

Public law 628 requires the VA to recover debts, allowing actions against veterans and possible seizure of assets, with past defaults totaling about 1,890 and a net loss near 2.6 million dollars.
Senator Taft urged postponing tax cuts until the next Congress to review spending. He argued Congress should first trim at least two to three billion dollars from the tax bill before lowering rates. He said the budget can be held within current yields, and did not anticipate a tax increase.
Chicago report says nation’s railroads agreed to a 10 cent an hour wage increase for 175,000 operating personnel including conductors trainmen yardmen yardmasters and dining car employes represented by the Order of Railway Trainmen and the Brotherhood of Railroad Train men.
