Pete Grows in Whitewright Athletics and FFA Leadership
Pete, a Whitewright student born in Ely Texas, lettered in track and basketball as a freshman and sophomore, served as co captain of the basketball team with Jackie Parnell, and earned honorable mention on the District 13 A all district team. He led FFA as sophomore treasurer and third year agriculture class treasurer, captained the FFA basketball team that placed fourth at Whitesboro, and plans to study engineering in college. He attends First Baptist Church and aims to reach state this year.

Tigerette halftime show thrills Whitewright and Cooper fans
At Friday night halftime the Whitewright Tigerettes performed for Whitewright and Cooper fans. Visiting Whitewright led onto the field with flag bearers and the drum and bugle corps. The drill team followed in gold tailed tinsel wrapped sticks before the marching signal and parade back off the north end.

Tigers Rally Before Ayres Cafe Pep Rally
WHS students attended a Thursday pep rally led by cheerleaders Alice Ayres Ann Brown Donna Williams Dixie Bassett and Gayla Sears. A later note thanks Hasty Chevrolet and the State Health Department for a free x ray program for students over 15 aimed at early tuberculosis and lung cancer detection.

Senior class refunds aid from tax cut on rings
WHS seniors received a refund totaling 37.69 dollars from the Eisenhower administration tax cut, representing half the federal tax paid on their class rings. Mrs Bennett hosted a seventh grade party at the American Legion Home with sponsors including Mrs Hennig Mrs Edwards Mr Bass and others.

Under Mrs Huckaby, a colored grade school group performed twelve songs and skits Friday during assembly at VHS. Cheerleaders led a pep rally for the Cooper game. Seniors thank Mrs Huckaby and students. Junior class elected class mothers including Iola Phillips and C K Smith.

Agriculture boys study parliamentary procedure in two teams
For the past three or four weeks the agriculture boys have been studying parliamentary procedure. The chapter has two teams, a junior and senior division.

Seniors Act in English IV Readings and Plays
English IV under Miss Neathery studies English authors and grammar. Each student reads a novel for an oral review and presents Macbeth scenes in seven groups using props costumes and sound effects for realism. The class finds the work fun and engaging.

Installation of FHA Officers at Whitewright High School
Whitewright High School's Future Homemakers of America installed new officers and welcomed freshmen members on Monday night November 8. The candle lighting ceremony in the auditorium featured pledge songs and honors with ribbon emblems awarded to freshmen indicating their FHA membership.
