A heavy two day storm ended a long spring drouth with 6.07 inches of rainfall in the city. The gauge showed 4.83 inches on Monday 0.83 Monday night and 0.41 Tuesday morning causing roof leaks and soil erosion. Bois d Arc creek rose out of banks from Whitewright to Red River and flooded Oak Hill Cemetery road. The statewide rain brought relief to crops after a long drought.

Dooley Dawson To Speak At White Wright Booster Banquet
O Dooley Dawson vice president and agriculture manager of Second National Bank of Houston will headline the White Wright Booster Club banquet May 19 at the high school gym. About 200 are expected with many farmers in attendance. The event is a casual community gathering with buffet style food. Dawson a Texas A and M graduate joined the bank in 1945 after 11 years with the U S Soil Conservation Service. He has built extensive soil conservation outreach across Texas and led 35000 in meetings and tours with Friends of the Land last November.
