Cement Mystery Solved by Cow Enigma in Whitewright
In Whitewright Sun notes from July 21 1916 H B Stephens reports his milk cow fell ill after 30 pounds of cement vanished from the barn. After veterinary care and trials the cow died and the cement was found in the stomach leaving a rock hard deposit. The column also recalls Woodmen of the World helping Jim Nicely with his cotton crop and the town’s 12th annual picnic under Commercial Club auspices with strong crowds and a lively program.
