300 000 Seek Pensions and 5 Dollar Payments At Issue

The Texas State Pension Board projects at least 300000 pension applications with 80 to 85 percent likely to qualify. About 240000 on the rolls may face only a $5 payment in July, while the state allocates 55 percent of liquor tax receipts to pensions and the federal match may leave average pensions near ten dollars. The board plans graduated payments from 5 to 15 dollars and faces a heavy workload to process cases, possibly requiring two more months to determine eligible recipients and funding.
