The Federal Government has purchased Whitewright's public school bonds and provided initial grant funds. A work order should be issued within ten days, starting construction on the gymnasium priced at $22,770. The project will take months and miss the current term but be ready before the next school session in September.
Emergency crop and feed loans authorized by the President’s Feb 28 order are available to Grayson County farmers. J L Berry, district field supervisor, says loans are through the Farm Credit Association with up to 200 dollars per farmer. Applications at the county agent’s office. priority to small needs. not for livestock or machinery. 5.5 percent interest. secured by first lien on financed crops or livestock.
New York report quotes Dora Rosenauer Vienna fashion authority who says American women are too beautiful to need elaborate dress. She arrives with eight trunks for a two month visit and praises American figures while noting Europeans cover flaws with clothes.
A Manning Clark and Mead event at the telephone building featured a floor display of tractors and cream separators, a noon luncheon for about 200 farmers, and seven reels shown at the Palace theatre with demonstrations from binder twine to terracing. Texas anglers along the Red River must hold Oklahoma licenses. Game Warden Sam Turner warned that any fishing from the river bank is illegal without an Oklahoma permit. A ten day permit costs 1.25 dollars and a season license 5 dollars.
In California a Civilian Conservation Corps worker Ray Williams opened a pay envelope to find a salary check for 250000.22 dollars. Officials said the error was a bookkeeping mistake and that Williams would receive his standard 36 dollar monthly wage for his labor in Sequoia National Park.
Texas Court of Criminal Appeals held the so called lost laws in full effect. The 150 articles of the State penal code were adopted in 1925 and were missing from an official folio signed by legislators and approved by Governor Miriam A Ferguson.
Mayor F. M. Echols says the State Fire Insurance Commission awarded Whitewright a ten percent good fire record credit for the policy year starting March 1. The reduction lowers basic premiums on Whitewright property for the coming year due to a four year low average in fire losses.
SAN ANTONIO reports State Administrator H. P. Drought ordered Texas to cut Works Progress Administration employment from 120 482 to 101 650 by March 31 and to 84 650 by May 31. Basis for release includes family income, private employment, and efficiency. District directors must finish projects by June 30 with no discrimination.

The new church costs about 150000 with an organ, five full-time staff, and deacon board. Montgomery has five years in Wichita Falls and previous years in Graham. A Virginia farmer A C Lockhart of Bishop nearly faints upon discovering a litter of twenty piglets in his barnyard. He calls the Bluefield Sunset News asking if the AAA will act. he fears harming such "fine little fellers" by plowing them under.
Federally funded WPA artists who just finished a large mural for the Elgin state asylum may found a new art school. Mrs. Increase Robinson, assistant national director of Federal art projects, considers a plan to decorate Illinois 40,000 air conditioned outhouses. The idea aims to brighten the drab structures once noted in Chic Sale’s The Specialist. Also noted is Mary Wyatt of Tredegar Valley Wales buried at age 100, with a wax doll and family Bible placed beside her.
