Water beds heat up Midwest homes gain popularity
Storm Lake Iowa and other conservative Midwest communities embrace water beds once dismissed as a fad. Time magazine estimates 15000 sold since August and Wall Street Journal projects up to 100000 this year. The beds cradle sleepers with evenly distributed weight and quiet waves from trapped air. Filling a 200 gallon vinyl tank takes about two and a half hours and can be heated. The vinyl is tough and leaks would not flood a room. water would ooze out while a patch kit is used.
