Traffic Crash At Pettit Store Crossing In Whitewright

At 4 45 p m Tuesday March 9 a collision on Grand Street at the Pettit Grocery side street involved a blue 1967 Mustang driven by Bob Spencer of Whitewright and a light tan 1961 Chevrolet. No serious injuries were reported. Police, DPS, and a wrecker from Edwards Chevrolet House Whitewright responded. Mrs Homer Gentry of Whitewright was shaken but uninjured. Damages were about 300 to the Gentry car and 500 to the Mustang. The cause remains under investigation.

Five area farmers named to NK Carload Sorghum Club

Five Whitewright region residents Jack England C Johnson Bill W Partridge Vaughn Partridge and L Scott earned national recognition as members of Northrup King and Company's 1970 Carload Sorghum Club. The club includes 467 growers from 156 acres in 16 states with average yields well above national production. England harvested 390000 pounds from 126 acres. Partridge families delivered hundreds of thousands of pounds. Johnson and Scott reported strong acreages and yields. the awards spotlight new grain sorghum hybrids and foster idea exchange.

New Futures Market For Sorghum Prospects In Texas

Boy Scout Troop 42 Hikes to Buck Me Fatridge Farm

Scout Troop 42 led by Scoutmaster Bill McFatride ge and Assistant Bob Purdom hiked about six miles to Buck Me Fatridge farm southeast of town. Twenty five boys prepared an outdoor meal and worked on 2nd class requirements including signaling and campfire skills with accompanying fathers Bill Pierce and Bobby Mathis.

Denison Highway 75 Route Plan In Works

Kenneth Jones an engineer with the Texas Highway Department helps plan the Highway 75 route near Denison. The Urban Transportation Study compares three routes with traffic projections guiding decisions by two governmental committees and a regional coordinating body. Leea Riding Club Rides In Houston Astrodome

The Whitewright Riding Club with 78 members traveled from their area to Houston Texas for an annual indoor rodeo at the Astrodome. They performed before a large crowd exceeding 42000, earned an invitation to return next year, and returned home safely by nightfall.
