The Whitewright FFA Chapter competed at the Honey Grove Junior Livestock Show on March 13, 197L. Members include Allan Harper, Darrell Ayer, Randy Wilson, Dee Ann Dyer, Jimmy Worsham, David Roberts, and Brad Alexander. Dee Ann Dyer won blue in crossbred steer class. she is daughter of Mr and Mrs Bill Dyer and noted for an outstanding Whitewright school career.

Lightning Causes $3000 Damage to Cable Facility
Strong weekend storms swept Grayson County and North Texas with tornadoes and heavy rain. At 6:45 p m Friday a lightning bolt struck the Community Cable Company of North Texas installation near Bells, wiping out service for the Bells Savoy area and causing about $3000 in damage. Ten trunk amplifiers were damaged, five toward Savoy and five toward the Savoy area.

Easter Seal Campaign set for Whitewright drive 1971

Old House Finds New Home in East Whitewright Move
An historic house dating from around 1908 that stood near Whitewright’s downtown area was relocated to a new site near the football field in East Whitewright. Purchased by Les Taggart and later moved by William Wilson, the house will be remodeled and preserved, marking its first move in six decades.

Old Bennett Home Fires Near Whitewright Residence
A blaze at the Dunfield residence on the Katy Railroad tracks near Whitewright caused extensive smoke and fire damage in the wing and minor furniture loss. Firemen confined the flames to one section of the frame house with no injuries reported and cause undetermined at press time. Dean Thomas of Whitewright enrolled in a Texas A&M three week cable splicing course conducted by the Engineering Extension Service. Thomas, a cable splicer helper for General Telephone of the Southwest in Irving, attends the program at the Telephone Training Center. The course, March 26, covers identification splicing and sealing of plastic and lead cables above ground and in mon les, sponsored by the Texas Vie s Association and Texas Statewide Telephone Cooperative Association.
