Texoma Exposition Directors Seek More Buyers for Livestock Show
At a Texoma Exposition and Livestock board meeting in Sherman the need for more buyers was stressed to help local youths. Howard Hooker said some students have not covered animal costs, and the group hopes to double last year’s roughly 70 buyers to ensure meaningful profits.

Local Students Earn Distinguished Student Honor at A&M
Whitewright residents Jimmy L. Rodgers and Debra A. Wortham earned Distinguished Student rankings at Texas A&M University announced by Registrar Robert A. Lacey. The honor goes to undergraduates with a 3.25 GPA or higher, limited to the top ten percent of the class. Rodgers and Wortham are both in animal science and are listed with parental addresses on Route 2.

Heart Talk At Literary Club Meeting
The Friday Literary Club gathered February 4 at Mrs. Emory Christian’s home. Mrs. Clint Hennig led a program on heart health with a film, while two American Heart Association reps checked blood pressure. Members donated a penny per heart year and 18 members plus two guests enjoyed refreshments.

Commander Thomas J. Keane of California was guest speaker at Whitewright High School sponsored by the Beta Club. He is retired and travels nationwide to address students and groups. He served in Europe in World War II, earned a Navy decoration, and was made an officer of the British Empire by King George VI.
