A bobcat was killed by a Walker hound near Whitewright as Grady McCorstin noted the animal weighed about 20 pounds and guessed it aged about two years. McCorstin notes he has long killed bobcats in Whitewright and Bonham. A campfire girl candy sale gains thanks to many helpers led by Linda Whipple and others.

The Future Homemakers of America float Christmas Memories won the Whitewright Christmas parade grand prize, with Santa's Helpers by Whitewright Community Club second and Friday Literary club third. Parade marshal was Bill Dyer, with Miss Tracy Dyer as honorary marshal and John Biggers as MC. A 1929 Model A drove by Denison Antique Car Club members, along with police, high school groups, cheerleaders, and the Twin State Barrel Racers mascot. Santa rode the fire truck passing out candy, crowd enthousiasme rose despite cold wind. A Whitewright Chamber drawing at Dairy Queen offers prizes on December 20 and 24. park improvements include Christmas trees funded by clubs and city lights. Whitewright Chamber of Commerce members moved the Dec 13 20 and 24 drawings to 2 p.m. to finish before dark. A slate of officers was proposed for the coming year with voting at the January meeting. New officers: Bill Wicker president Milton Simpson vice president Edith Jester secretary Charles Trucksa treasurer.

Danny Berend Chosen to Lead Whitewright Rotary Club
Danny Berend, a public service official and former Whitewright Chamber of Commerce president, was elected Rotary Club of Whitewright president. Murrell Dickson was chosen as president-elect for next year, with Chuck Wilson succeeding mid year. Directors include James Donaghey Harmon Goins Jr Elton Miller and Dr Douglas Rymer. Murrell Dickson and Dick Capps named editor and assistant editor of the club bulletin. Secretary will be Phillip Earnhart and Charles Truksa treasurer. The club endorsed SAVE at Grayson County College offering courses for 60 plus, including crafts science and law enforcement with 350 enrolled this year.

The Whitewright Sun describes Santa Claus visiting Whitewright where he spoke with hundreds of children about Christmas wishes during a four hour visit from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Chamber of Commerce provided candy as Santa handed it out and Arnold Henson helped Santa with his reindeer and entry. John Curtis and Dusty Rhodes attended the Grayson County Veterans Board meeting in Sherman, Curtis as American Legion Post 225 chaplain and Rhodes as WWI veterans group commander.
