Bells Man Killed in Highway 69 Crash Near Bells
Virgil Pete Clark of Bells died in a three car wreck on highway 69 two miles north of Bells at 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Roy Martin and Charles Medearis of Whitewright were hospitalized in Sherman. Rudy E. Gray of Gladewater and family were taken to Bonham with serious injuries. A Dodd City driver suffered only slight injuries. Funeral services were held at Bells Baptist Church with interment at Westminster. Clark, born November 5, 1916 in Collin County, had lived in Grayson County since 1933 and worked in a Whitewright cafe. He had been in the CCC camp at Sherman since October. Survivors include his parents at Anna, a sister Mrs. J. C. Dopson of Bells, and brothers Bill of Van Alstyne, Harland of Valdosta, and L. W. Clark at home.
