Whitewright Supt Sees No Harm From Budget Proposals

Supt. Dick Capps told Rotary members that despite a chaotic mid April school financing picture in Austin, none of the current House Bill 750 or Governor’s bill proposals would adversely affect Whitewright. He noted HB 750 could add about 700 million to districts over two years but faces legislative snags, while the Governor’s plan would limit state spending increases and rely on local taxes. Capps stressed bills aim to equalize opportunities across districts, citing past tax-rate adjustments after value equalization.
