North defeats South 21 to 7 in the Greenbelt Bowl with Clifton Burns returning a 95 yard opening kickoff for a touchdown and Amarillo Caprock’s Ryan Hazelwood adding key conversions. MVP Burns stars for North while defensive plays and late interceptions seal the win as Wellington honors fade. John Berry notes the game ends with a pithy proverb.
Clifton Burns earned the Most Valuable Player honor at the 1994 Greenbelt Bowl with a 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown a 30 yard punt return four receptions for 60 yards and dominant all around play. Stephan Moore led North with 109 yards on six catches. Awards also went to Chris Johnson Craig Brewton Ramiro Rosalez Kenneth Aboussie Tony Cavalier and Miss Congeniality Lindsey Inman with Candace Rothwell succeeding as queen in 1995 continuing the island of talent at Childress.
Route 66 Road Warriors and Rodeo Cowboys from across the nation are set for Rodeo Days 1994 in Shamrock on June 17 and 18. Festivities include rodeo competitions a free barbecue supper a car show a Route 66 parade a poker run chuckwagon cook-off and an after rodeo dance.
