Witty British Inventions Propose Odd War Aids
London July 80 The air inventions committee has reviewed over 5000 ideas from British amateurs hoping to aid the war effort. Proposals include freezing clouds to mount artillery, training cormorants to fetch munitions, balloons with heavy guns, and light beams to guide fire. Some schemes seek petrifying cement shells, snakes by pneumatic propulsion, and a long tube to attack Germany. Many ideas deemed novel but impractical, while the ministry notes most lack feasibility.
