Smoky Mountain booklet planned for scenic highway route
Grady Hunt, former publisher from Asheville, will produce a promotional booklet titled The Crest of the Blue Ridge Highway. Chambers of commerce along highways NC 10 and 28 from Virginia to Tennessee back the project as a step toward federal designation. The plan links Shenandoah to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, highlighting Blowing Rock, Mount Mitchell, Chimney Rock, and Sapphire Country to lure motor tourists. Hunt will visit each community to gain chamber and business support.
