Man Wanted in Watauga Arrested in Tennessee
Tolbert Presnell, sought in Boone on charges of shooting at an officer's home, stealing chickens, and manufacturing whiskey, was arrested Thursday morning by Deputy Sheriff Harry Swadley on the Jonesboro Limestone highway in Tennessee. He remained in jail at Jonesboro with authorities notified. Sheriff Farthing transported Presnell to the Watauga jail for trial at the fall term of Superior Court.

Famous Airman Killed by Airplane Propeller
John Hunter, famed Chicago endurance record holder and head of a renowned aviation family, died in Rosedale Mississippi when his plane propeller struck him as he unfastened the wing after a storm. Mr. Elmer Rankin leaves Boone to join a travelcade of seventy six teachers for a two month tour in the South West and Northwest passing through twenty states and one foreign country. Mattie Lou Harmon Injured After Car Hitnear Vilas
Miss Mattie Lou Harmon sixteen daughter of Mr and Mrs J Harmon was seriously injured Saturday near Vilas when struck by a Boone driver Frank Councill. She had just exited a car driven by her father and stepped toward Conley Glenn's home when the vehicle rounded a curve and struck her. The accident was deemed unavoidable and her condition has been described as serious but improving with an expected permanent recovery. Local reaction reflects her popularity in the Vilas community.
