His fifteen year old daughter dies from injuries, with many officials and aides among the dead. Witnesses report a carriage disguising as gendarmes delivering a gilded vase like bomb, the blast tearing the villa front, ceilings, and floors and leaving victims mangled beyond identification. Two assassins die. others severely wounded and in fortress custody. The motive and weapon delivery remain under investigation with no clear account of whether the bomb was dropped or placed.

Jerome gets a shake up train collision kills engineer
A Maine Central crash near Pittsfield on August 25 killed engineer Louis A. Gilbert of Bangor and lightly injured three train hands. Brien Moore owner of the Tucson Citizen was found dead in his bed at home. He began newspaper work on the Houston Texan post, then became managing editor of that paper.
