GIRL HURLED TO DEATH BY TRAIN NEAR NETCONG STATION

Special to The Washington Post reports seventeen year old Florence Cryst of Hackettstown NJ was killed at the Stanhope Netcong station by a Delaware Lackawanna and Western fast express. She stood on the track facing the coming train, the engineer blew his whistle and attempted to stop but she did not move in time. The girl was picked up and thrown approximately eighty five feet with fatal injuries. The incident occurred as she awaited a train to Cranberry Lake and likely mistook the approaching service for her own. The boiler was unable to prevent the fatal crash and the event is being investigated.

In Little Falls New York a boiler explosion on locomotive No 2433 of the New York Central and Hudson River Railroad killed Engineer Chris Wagner of Albany and Fireman Edward Hall of Oneida.
