Grain market in closer balance says Iowa State economist
Iowa State University economist William Uhrig told the Midwest Outlook Conference in Peoria Illinois that feed grain supplies are tighter and free grain will fill the market. He warned prices won’t follow past seasonal patterns if September and October reports lower crop estimates. Corn around 1.35 a bushel in central Iowa. 1956 crop forecast 3.981 billion bushels. Oct 1 carryover under 934 million. Strong demand and low carryover suggest corn and other feed grains will rise into 1966 67.
