United Presbyterian Home board approves a contract with Earl Wood & Sons for a new three story brick residence extending from Fulton Hall. 90 Die in Britannia Airways Plane Crash in Yugoslavia

Getaway Jeep Found Abandoned After Keota Bank Robbery
The Jeep station wagon believed to be the getaway car in the August 1 Farmers Savings Bank of Keota robbery has been found abandoned in Chicago. Keokuk County Sheriff Bud Wallerich said Chicago police reported the vehicle had been left for about two weeks. The bandit, later identified as Charles R. Wallerich, 32, escaped from University Hospitals in Iowa City four days before the holdup and is a distant relative of the sheriff. The robbery netted about $8,000 as bank executive vice president John R. Helscher witnessed the event and notified a St Louis banker who contacted the FBI.

Iowa to draft married men without children in October
Iowa will begin drafting married men without children in October to meet rising imposition quotas. Col. Glenn Bowles said about 250 to 300 men may be drafted, with 2,000 married men eligible under the revised order. The quota for October reaches 859, the highest since the Korean War, as draft priorities shift to married men without children and older married men begin to be drafted.
