Shebecks Compare Western Counties With Home County
Mrs John Shebeck describes a Sunday trip from Snowball to Centerville with the Paggitts noting dust in the air from a distant storm, and observing farming methods in Western counties. Fields near Pleasant Plain retain cornstalks while Ottumwa area shows small plowed plots and livestock. The land is rolling with horse powered work and numerous haystacks. The Paggitts tour coal mines northwest of Centerville.
