Third night of unrest at University of Iowa campus
Nineteen people were arrested after 18 of them formed a human blockade on Interstate 80 near Dubuque Street. Police used tear gas and riot gear to disperse about 600 protesters, with 220 officers enforcing the roadway closure. One man, Robert Matzner, was arrested near Hillcrest Men's Dormitory for defacing public property. The KXIC radio broadcast drew criticism from Public Safety officials but continued reporting in the public interest. The Pentacrest area rally remained peaceful after the interstate incident.
