The Washington YMCA annual Membership Drive began February 17 1976 with a goal of 25700 and a volunteer force of about 150. The drive exceeded the goal by 2343 25 with funding raised through newspaper radio ads and personal outreach applauded by staff and community supporters.
Y Indian Guides and Princesses, a father and child program, reflects on last year’s events. An overnight at Camp Arrowhead near Ottumwa preceded March inductions of new officers Joe Redlinger Dale Harter John Kleese Ed Augustine and Gary Murphy. Plans for the coming year include Lake Darling overnight cookouts hikes and a possible Des Moines Adventure Land trip.
A committee named the YMCA Real Estate Endowment Committee is created to receive and manage real estate donated to the YMCA. By year end 1975 it holds 31,155 acres of farmland in Brazoria County Texas with an appraised value of 42,211.81 dollars. Current income is minimal, but growth potential is noted by Chairman Gifford Morrison.
The YMCA acknowledges a wide group of loyal suppliers and sponsors who enabled the annual report and meeting distribution.
