Wheat allotments set at 59.3 million acres for 1968

Secretary Freeman announces a 59.3 million acre national wheat allotment for 1968, aimed at meeting domestic and export needs. The decision follows farmer and trade consultation, 15 informal hearings, and advisory committee support, with flexibility if world supply or crop conditions change. The plan seeks about 1.5 billion bushels, balancing use and exports, while safeguarding farm prices and foreign aid commitments.
