Crane plans $10 million valve plant in Washington
Crane Company will build a 200000 square foot valve manufacturing plant to meet rising demand. Mayor Cloud Willits announced production should begin in September 1968 after signing $10 million in industrial revenue bonds in Chicago. Grinnell Teen Killed by Man Then Takes Own Life
A 19-year-old Georgia man, Bobby Mullins, shot and killed 14-year-old Carrie Ann Black in Grinnell Iowa and then killed himself with a .22 pistol bought earlier that day. The incident occurred at Tiny Acres Apartment House. A witness, Mrs Neela Carroll, described Mullins entering the apartment, declaring a gift, then shooting Black in the head twice before taking his own life. Police found a note stating he planned to shoot himself and another person, though the other target was not specified. Black had a one year old and had moved in with Carroll after Mullins had threatened her.

Protest from Soviet over ship damage near Haiphong
