Paperware use and pricing perceptions among homemakers
The survey finds 3.35 persons more likely to live in houses than apartments and to own homes. Nine of ten homemakers use paperware year round indoors in summer and winter, mainly cups for snacks and drinks, with some for coffee and tea. They cite time saving, convenience, economy, dish wear protection, and sanitary reasons. Respondents overestimate plastic coated plates price by up to 116 percent, and underestimate actual cost for other features. About 80 percent of disposable cup and paper plate sales occur in supermarkets, with the rest in variety, discount, department, stationery and drug stores.
