Marines Repulse Attack Near Chu Lai In Fierce Battle
About 40 U S Marines on a barren hilltop repelled repeated assaults by a Communist force of about 400 near Chu Lai 350 miles north of Saigon. Only two Marines escaped unwounded. 32 guerrillas were killed as reinforcements and air strikes turned the tide.
