Seek Motive in Murder at Hotel
A 29 year old design engineer Byron C Hartman was found stabbed and beaten to death in the Roosevelt hotel Cedar Rapids. Police suspect possible motive tied to national defense secrets though no connection to the crime has been proven. Coroner Robert Brosh said Hartman of University City Missouri died about 12 hours before discovery by a maid. A clue in Hartman’s car trunk included a cloth panel with two chicken bones and the words lest you forget. Hotel guest L W Sheets reported hearing a scuffle but saw nothing further.
