Army volunteer program outlined by DeLarosa at Rotary meeting

Sergeant DeLarosa, a U.S. Army recruiting officer from Iowa City, spoke to the Rotary Club about the new voluntary army program. Highlights include a signed contract, education at the Army's expense, a two year minimum enlistment, and bonus pay for re-enlistment. The plan targets 28,000 recruits monthly by July 1973 and offers retirement at 50 percent pay after 20 years. The program opens combat roles to female recruits and promises equal benefits for men and women. Rotary welcomed three new members and introduced YMCA program director Kevin Koehn as a guest.
