The Game Commission credits rising ringneck pheasant numbers to chick rearing by sportsmen groups and farmers. In 1954, 220,485 day old chicks were shipped to clubs and cooperators, about 80 percent reaching 12 weeks old before release, with 64,530 to sportsmen clubs and 155,955 to cooperators.
