Harding the motor loving president noted for car travel
Washington correspondent says Warren G. Harding may be remembered as the motor loving president who preferred car travel to trains. He rode four White House vehicles on a Marion trip and often mused about driving again despite duties. He valued speed, self pacing, and seeing distant country crowds from an auto.
