A new ore body at the Success mine widens into a 27 foot high grade streak with over two feet of clean galena. Drifts extend east and west, promising a long ore shoot. Mill operates to convert ore into concentrates funding development, with ready infrastructure and ongoing production.
James H. Taylor of Bullion Mining reports five men employed underground. The east drift extends about 600 feet, exposing a long ore shoot. Last 100 feet show reduced ore, but the drift face widening improves ore grade as it deepens under the Idaho Montana divide.
Carl Lindberg of Los Angeles a mining engineer with American branch of a London firm inspected the Flynn Group and Senator ground via the Coeur d'Alene Syndicate. He praised the Syndicate's operations directed by Rush J White and plans to visit principal mines before departing the district.
The Tamarack company secured an easement from Federal Mining and Smelting for No 6 tunnel at the old Standard Mammoth mine near Mace. The watchman at No 6 was told his services are no longer needed, indicating Tamarack has control and plans to extend No 6 to their ground as the permanent mine outlet.
The Hypotheek Mining and Milling company reelected J. H. Kern of Moose Jaw as director and vice president. United States Corporation of New York was appointed registrar and transfer agent, with the local secretary continuing as west transfer agent. Ore development resumes, underground work to begin tomorrow at the new tunnel portal with a compressor building installed.
Homestake Mining company completed a 160 foot crosscut contract awarded to J. W. Buehler of Silver Reef Mining. Heavily mineralized stringers were found as the crosscut aimed to reach the Silver Reef vein, leading managers to believe the vein lies further west. A southwestern crosscut is planned from the Silver Reef turn, with an estimated 150 feet to reach the vein, though the result proved uncertain. Encouraging end-of-crosscut showings prompt consideration of further extension.

Andrew Hedin, manager of Willow Creek Mining, toured the area near three miles above Mullan to supervise progress as Mrs. Hedin prepared to depart for Spokane. A 700 foot tunnel plus 300 foot crosscut show a largely low grade copper ore vein averaging 2 percent copper and 2 ounces of silver, with chalcopyrite and bornite structures and occasional native copper. The crosscut may later encounter the Carbonate Hill lead silver vein. the company operates a water powered compressor.
Donald A. Callahan reports that stockholders at a New York meeting last Monday approved increasing Callahan Zinc Lead's capital stock from 500000 to 1000000 shares. Directors had decided in June to submit the proposal to stockholders to use additional shares to fund acquisition and equipment of new mining property as needed.
The Mint Bureau bought 150000 fine ounces of silver in the week ended July 1. This lifts total Pittman act purchases to 116,197,506 ounces with $208,000,000 remaining to be spent before the act expires. Production rate is expected to increase significantly, per the Engineering and Mining Journal Press. Purebeck marble is described as actually fresh water limestone.
The August 1 primary will be held next Tuesday and registration closes July 28. Voters who have not registered cannot vote. The notice urges all citizens to register now as only two days remain to register for the primary election.
C L Hewitt and J H Parker organize the Metals Mining company to rework the Hunter tailings at the National mill in the Coeur d Alene district. After securing a lease, they plan plant changes to start processing the tailings by September 1, leveraging advances in flotation and metallurgical methods. Hewitt, Parker bring track records of successful dumps in Government Gulch and Kellogg.
Heavy labor shortages plague Coeur d Alene mining district as Hecla reports the 2000 level ore shoot richer than higher levels. Face shows seven feet of clean lead-silver ore with much lower grade ore. Star vein progress near half its distance. Miners school begun to train workers. Stockholders of the Carbonate Hill Mining company will meet in Spokane on August 7 at 2 p.m. to vote on dissolving the corporation and distributing its assets. The meeting follows the consolidation that formed Idaho- Carbonate Hill Consolidated Mining Company in 1917 led by W. D. Greenough.
